about
The Clearmountain Pause was recorded in July of 2016. The band was asked by the 27 Tapes video recording project to participate in a session. For this 27 Tapes founder Wouter Budé invited the band to come and record at his Moon Studio.
Black Oak wrote a new song with the title The Clearmountain Pause, a reference to producer Bob Clearmountain, who is known for inserting pauses in songs for dramatic effect. And wouldn't you know it, Black Oak inserted such a pause into thee new song.
lyrics
The Clearmountain Pause
It clouds up
Like blood in the dust
Clotted as the night's promise
Most days, I forget
These stolen moments
Under a waning sun
Lying in wait
They float up like
Bones from the sea
Old molds
Dying in a reverie
Sometimes in the clear light
I become untied
The earth dives into the sun's fire
The horizon folds
Torn and
Jutting out
I'll rise up
Like the earth's crust
Most days, I forget
The cause of my regrets
Under the waning sun
Lying in wait
Sometimes in the clear light
I become untied
The earth dives into the sun's fire
The horizon folds
